Privacy Policy
Leftoff is made by One Silly App, LLC (“we”, “us”). This policy covers the Leftoff app (the @leftoff/cli package, its local daemon and board), the website at leftoff.dev, and the optional hosted relay at yourname.leftoff.dev.
The short version
- Your sessions, checkpoints and digests stay on your Mac. We never see them.
- The website keeps your email, and the name you claim.
- The relay is end-to-end encrypted. It sees who is connecting, never what you send.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking cookies. We don't sell your data.
On your Mac
Leftoff runs on your own computer. Your Claude Code session data, checkpoints, digests and settings are plain files on your Mac. They are not sent to us, and the app has no analytics or telemetry.
If you use the hosted relay, it counts how many accounts have a Mac connected each day: a number, stored as an anonymous ID for 90 days, with no IPs and no content.
A few features talk to other services directly from your Mac, under your own accounts, never through us:
- Summaries use the model you pick. By default that's your own Claude Code login; it can also be an API key you provide or a local model.
- Sync between your Macs uses Syncthing, Mac to Mac.
- Update checks ask the public npm registry for the latest version.
On leftoff.dev
We only collect what you type in:
- Waitlist: your email and when you joined.
- Name claims: the name, your email, its state (pending, held or confirmed) and timestamps.
- Relay signup: your email, your name and your plan (today, “beta”).
To stop abuse, we count requests per IP address. The counters are hashed and expire within an hour.
The hosted relay
The relay is optional. It lets you open your board from your phone and other Macs. Everything you send through it is end-to-end encrypted on your devices, so the relay can't read it.
What the relay does see:
- your name and account email
- the public keys of your machines
- connection times and IP addresses
- message sizes
It never sees your sessions, checkpoints, digests or anything else on your board.
Cookies and tracking
There are no tracking cookies, analytics or ads on leftoff.dev. After you confirm a name, we set one small cookie for a day so the “it's yours” page knows which name to show. Your light or dark theme choice is saved in your browser and never sent to us.
Who helps us run it
- Cloudflare hosts the site and relay and stores the data (Workers, KV).
- Resend sends our emails.
They process data only to provide these services. We don't sell or rent your information to anyone. We'll share it only if the law requires it, or with a buyer if Leftoff is ever sold, and they'd have to keep to this policy.
Emails
We use your email only to confirm your name and signups, and for Leftoff news, like the email when hosted Leftoff launches. We hate spam as much as you do. To stop emails, or to have your data deleted, write to hello@leftoff.dev.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your claim or account is active. A claim whose confirmation link is never clicked expires on its own after 48 hours. Ask us to delete your data at any time, and we will.
Your choices
You can ask us what we hold about you, correct it or delete it. Email hello@leftoff.dev from the address you used.
Where it's stored
One Silly App, LLC is a US company. Cloudflare runs on a worldwide network, so your data may be processed outside your country.
Security
Traffic to leftoff.dev and the relay is encrypted. Confirmation links are stored only as hashes. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we hold small.
Children
Leftoff isn't meant for anyone under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us their email, tell us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. For big changes, we'll email people who have an account.
